Children and Families

CECAL’s Children and Family Services is our dedicated program for local families with children aged 0–12. It is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice and includes both short term assistance and ongoing support. We offer information sessions, referral and advocacy services, evidence-based parenting groups, and our popular playgroups.

  • Playgroup

CECAL’s playgroup runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am–11:30am during the school term. It’s a vibrant space – expect storytelling, craft, music and singing, free play, and other special events and skills building opportunities.

Our playgroup is run by a our wonderful team and volunteers. It’s a fantastic way to support your child in learning new skills, building social networks and confidence, and encouraging language development, physical activity, and creativity.

  • Parenting Groups

Our Parenting groups and workshops runs throughout the year and are generally held in the evening to support working parents. We have had parenting courses such as “Circle of Security”, “1-2-3 Magic & Emotional Coaching”, “No Scaredy Cats”, “Tuning in to Kids” and these evidence -based parenting courses are led by qualified staff depending on community need.
